Jen Garrido is a San Francisco-based fine artist who also has an alter ego — no, really! In an effort to “keep her fine art painting career and her graphic design/illustrative career separate,” she developed an alternate persona and shop, dubbed Jenny Pennywood. My friend Katherine (the one whose wedding I was in!) recently introduced me to Jen and the minute I saw her works — all of them! — I was smitten. Her fine art pieces make use of several mediums, all with a vibrant nod to florals. The effect is at once restrained, but arresting (case in point: the Ink & Pink work above!).

In the Jenny Pennywood shop, you can find all types of goodies: tea towels and linen napkins; paper notebooks with Jen’s beautiful work on the covers; even fabric by the yard for your next project.

You know how I love sharing new artists with you, and Jen was no exception. All the pieces featured here are currently for sale — have you started that holiday list yet? Jen’s work is also currently selling on One King’s Lane with some really good deals (like this 40″ indigo piece for only $250! I’m showing it to Joe today).

If you’re interested in learning more about Jen’s approach and process, you can check out her artist’s statement here, as well as this older feature in the Chronicle. SF Girl by Bay and Anthology have also been lucky enough to visit her studio and see Jen in action!
