Life Lately

No but really, how is it already July?

Popping in with a little update on what’s been going on around these parts, from quick trips I’ve taken, to discovering new things here in SF. Let’s get right to it, shall we?

That’s all from here! July is stacking up to be even busier than June was…and you know what that means. Summer’s going to be over before I know it! What about you? Anything fun or interesting happen in June? What’s on tap for July (and the Fourth of July? Are you taking a 4 day weekend?). Ciao for now!

Portland is gorgeous. We finished a 4-week road trip with a week in Bend, Oregon. It absolutely blew us away and topped Mendocino as the place we want to move.

You and Lisa are my blog design dream team! I’m excited for your shop to open later this year.

I agree, I really loved it! The friend I visited is from Bend and has me convinced that’s where I need to visit next. Portland surprised me in a lot of ways — good ways! We’ll be back for sure.

Ahh, so excited that you’re opening up a WordPress theme shop! I’ve been following for a long time and I cannot wait to see them!

Thanks, India! I’m excited too. Is there anything special you’d want to see in a WP theme? Or any specific add-ons that would make your blog design better?

If you like the idea of spinning but aren’t loving Soul Cycle, have you tried out Flywheel? I’m absolutely obsessed! I love the data driven approach with numbers that for me personally really helps keep me motivated and give me that extra boost of energy I would never have on my own.

I hate to say it, but I think I’ll end up squarely in the SoulCycle camp. I just can’t get into the competitive aspect of Flywheel. I like going to workout to do my own thing and be in my own head…I think I’d get so anxious seeing how I stacked up against all these randoms around me! :D

I think what I like is that everyone made the scoreboard sound intimidating….but in reality they put up the numbers maybe 3 times for about 20 seconds each time during class. It’s not just up there the entire time. And you’re only on the board if you’re in the top 10 which means you’re doing amazingly if you are! If you’re not no one ever has to know or will know.

Ohhhhh! That’s HUGELY helpful. I literally thought the board was up the entire time, so if you were in dead last it was like WOMP WOMP. Like the worst feeling ever! Ok, that makes me more interested in checking it out for sure! Thanks for letting me know :)

I’ve been dying to try Outdoor Voices, I love the styles (not a fan of neon workout gear)

I work for the General Contractor that is building Salesforce Tower – the stories from the team are incredible. Here’s a really cool vid: https://vimeo.com/213540116

Thank you for sharing, that was really cool (and so dramatic too, ha!). It’s crazy — my husband used to work in the building behind the old Transbay Terminal (where — wow — I used to go and buy MUNI passes when I first moved to the city). It was insane to see that being torn down and dug up, and now this thing in its place. I remember when we first arrived in the city, the very first Infinity tower was only about 5 stories high — you could clearly see the elevator shaft going up. The second one might not have even broken ground yet. Now those towers look “old” to me when I see them, compared to all the other high rises that have gone up around them. It’s insane how much the city skyline has changed in the last decade! That’s what I mean…not better or worse, just different. And always amazing to be a part of!

YAY! So happy to read an update from you and to see Lucy’s smile. I’ve never been to Oregon but it is on my list. My June has flown by because I was on vacation from Memorial Day through the 8th in Copenhagen and the Faroe Islands (I recommend both!)then came back and had an aerial performance to work on and perform a week and a half after my return. I’m ready for a four day weekend for the 4th of July, for sure.
What do you like so much about the Outdoor Voices leggings? I’ve yet to try them but I always like trying new brands and I’m pretty loyal to Lululemon (bought on sale only).

Get Portland on your list for sure! However, your most recent trip sounds incredible!

OV: There’s so much I like about them! The warmup leggings specifically are a 10-panel construction, so they NEVER sink down as you’re moving around. I’ve found that with other leggings, I sometimes am pulling them up, since they’re a single piece of material. Despite it’s name, the warmup leggings aren’t too hot or anything like that. However, they are a much thicker material than any other workout legging I’ve ever worn, but I really like that. They hold you place very well, are SUPER flattering, and just generally really comfortable. I also like that all OV leggings tend to be a little higher waisted, so they hold you in. And of course, their color schemes are the best. I just look at other workout clothing and it’s kinda meh. I think OV is jmy vibe aesthetically.

This time around I ordered a pair of Tech Sweat leggings alongside a few more pairs of Warm Up leggings. I also ordered some crop tops, so I’m curious to see how those feel/fit. I’d only ever ordered a racerbank tank from OV before (which fit great, had a beautiful, unique color, and has held up after many, MANY washings!). I think overall the quality of their stuff is just really good and the look is very unique.

Hi Victoria – I am heading to Charleston later this month. What was the print shop’s name? Any favorite places from your last visit? I moved to the East Coast two years ago and I didn’t realize how much I would miss SF! I get how you were feeling in New York. Love reading your lists at the end of the month and miss being able to read your more frequent posts.

Hi Jennifer! The shop is Carolina Antique Maps & Prints. Here’s the site: https://www.carolinaantiqueprints.com/ There’s soooo much stuff in there, so if you go, expect to sort through a lot of piles. But she has some incredible gems, for sure. As far as can’t miss things in Charleston, Xiao Bao Biscuit is as good as everyone says — I wish there was something like that in SF, actually! I also really enjoyed Leon’s Oyster Shop. Best hush puppies I’d had since my Texas childhood!

I miss the blog at times too, and love hearing from readers like you! I just get bogged down with other creative work for the studio, hence why I don’t post as much, but please know that I still love checking in here with you guys! Fun fact: when I don’t post in a given week, you can all but guarantee it’s because I was building out big creative projects for clients. When that happens, usually the creative side of my brain is just dead and can’t drum up any more pretty stuff for the blog, haha! I really appreciate you reading here though :) SF sends its love!

Actually on that note (and anyone can join in this conversation!), what types of posts do you like here? Might as well ask so I can spend my time wisely! :) I know people seem to really like Digest posts and life updates…anything else?

Well I’m blushing over here! I will keep this in mind! Glad you guys love these, as these are my favorite too. I like sharing recipes and all, but most of the time I cook and don’t feel like styling and photographing my food, haha! Soooo, glad those aren’t your fave. ;)
