Life Lately

life-lately

Hi, Friends! Ugh, I can’t believe it’s already Thursday. I say ‘ugh’ because I spent the first part of the week bed and couch ridden from what I’m pretty sure was (is) a case of the flu. As I told someone earlier in the week, I think I’d rather have a cold — the chills and aches are awful! Anyway, I’ve been trying to take good care of myself but was in and out of the office all week, resulting in a minor panic as we approach Friday and impending deadlines. Wish me luck.

A few things on my radar recently:

It’s no secret how big a fan I am of Sézane (evidence all here). The company sent out an email earlier this week announcing what I’d always hoped for: you can now return items to them from the U.S. for FREE! Previously, this made ordering clothes from them a risky proposition, since as I discovered the hard way one time in New York, shipping something back to France would cost like $80. Um, no thanks. You still have to pay for the $15 DHL shipping to get your stuff stateside, but they now include duties and if you don’t like it, you can send it back. Huge! Their May collection went live last weekend and there’s SO much good stuff (loving these gold sandals, this dress, and how cute are these espadrilles?). A few of you have asked me about ordering bags and shoes from them. I’ve never ordered shoes, but have three different bags, and every single one is beautifully made and in constant rotation for me. Definitely two thumbs up!

Last week was filled with culture over here. I watched The First Monday in May, thanks to Joe spotting it on OnDemand for me. It was really beautifully done, and it was fun to see a behind the scenes look at how the Met Gala comes together — from the entertainment (apparently, Rihanna was exorbitantly expensive), to the seating charts, to conceiving and building installations for the exhibition. I highly recommend it! We also went out to the DeYoung last weekend to see Oscar de la Renta: The Retrospective. The number of pieces they had on display was pretty incredible, and the exhibit was lovely. However, it was SO crowded, so if you go on a weekend, be prepared (and definitely buy your tickets in advance, so you can pick them up at Will Call and skip some of the lines). I’m also convinced I picked up said virus at the museum too. Let’s just say it was close quarters in there.

Biggest news of all: I’m getting ready to finally launch the new site! I feel like I’ve alluded to it for months now — oh wait, because I have. I actually laid out a design for a new blog site last SUMMER, then was all, “What am I doing? I should just redo the whole thing.” Which took a while, because designing for yourself is the hardest. Anyway, Lisa and I will be working to get it live tomorrow, so check back late Friday or over the weekend if you wanna peep it.

That’s all for now — I’m still in pajamas because jeans sound like they will hurt. #flu Off to make more tea; hope you’re having a lovely week!

May you feel better soon. The flu is awful. I awoke on Boxing Day to discover I had it once.

Yay for Sezane’s free returns! Thanks for answering my question about Sezane shoes here & on my comment. I thought about you when I saw the Sezane email this week too.

Hope you feel better and I’m excited for the new site as well (though I like the current one)!

Ok, SO excited about Sezane’s new policy! I ordered a shirt in two sizes from them recently and now the one that didn’t fit is on Ebay, because it’s going to be better that way than spending the money to return it. Not my best-laid plan! But at least going forward I won’t have to worry about that, woo! Now if only my other favorite French brand Comptoir des Cotonniers, would ship stateside :(. They closed all of their stores and their e-commerce doesn’t ship here. Ugh. Anyway I saw First Monday in May a couple of weeks ago and loved it! It got me even more excited for the current Met Costume exhibit, can’t wait to go. The Oscar de la Renta one looks gorgeous! Hope you feel better soon and super excited to see your new site!
