Crushing On: Annachich Jewelry

annachich jewelry

You know how they say inspiration is everywhere? That adage proved doubly true when I discovered Annachich Jewelry. First in how I even came across this super creative jewelry company — through a comment via my Instagram. A while back, I was roaming around downtown and snapped a picture of the Phelan building, a flatiron style building that was built in 1908. A few days later, I got a comment from @annachich_jewelry: “Our Capsule collection of jewelry is based on the interior architecture of the building on the left!” A jewelry collection based on San Francisco architecture? I was intrigued!

I took a screenshot of the company name and then didn’t revisit it until early last week. And I happily discovered that for Annachich founder and designer Becky Johnson, inspiration really is everywhere in SF. The former graphic designer channeled her creativity and passion into making jewelry in 2012, and attended the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts to learn metalsmithing. Her designs are inspired by architectural elements from buildings she loves in the city; she actually 3D prints the various elements she wants to use, then casts them in metal (how cool is that?). Pieces are all hand-fabricated to order (even cooler).

Some examples of the inspiration: the hexagonal design in the cuff and earrings above are from ceiling tiles in the Phelan building; the half circle pendant in the Half Cam Snake Charm necklace is from the Native Sons of the Golden West building. I LOVE how the designs incorporate historical elements from these treasured edifices, all made modern again through an accessory. Keep this jewelry shop in mind for a one-of-a-kind gift — for yourself, or someone else (especially if they live in SF!). You can learn more about Annachich Jewelry, including how the company got its name, right here, and shop the two most recent collections here and here.
