Life Lately

life lately - may

Checking in as May draws to a close (wait, what?). Did everyone have a good Memorial Day Weekend? Settling back into the work week yesterday was a struggle. A three-day weekend at the end of May is always a blessing and a curse — it’s usually so needed after a long winter, but once you get that taste of all the fun summer has to offer, who wants to work?!

Above are a few things that have been happening around here lately. Work wise, I’m getting ready to launch a large e-commerce project that I can’t wait to share with you, and I’m currently working with two fab clients whose projects will run until the end of summer. Studio life: good. Weekend life: good. I can’t argue with that.

Hope you’re having a good (short!) week. Curious to know if anyone has tried Rent the Runway, and/or Barry’s Bootcamp…let me know your thoughts!

PS: In case you want to follow along on her adventures, Lucy has an Instagram account that she occasionally posts to. ;)

So very cute! I cannot believe it’s the end of May either – and I actually just made my first RTR order yesterday – I have the same concerns!

    Warm Regards,

I love Rent the Runway! I’ve never had a bad experience myself and I have a friends who have had a dress not fit them or it didn’t look good and RTR’s customer service is excellent and will help you find a new dress and ship it out quickly as a replacement. I think you’ll enjoy the process, it is fun to have a brand new dress and try different styles that you wouldn’t necessarily buy. I have never personally ordered a dress that didn’t fit, the styling notes and fit guides are excellent.

Running: you may grow to not despise it. I started running in college to stay in shape as I was a high school swimmer and I HATED running at first, but I stuck with it. 16 years later, I still love it and I’m running my 5th marathon this August, in Iceland.

Glad to hear Miss Lucy is living a happy life! <3 <3

Yep, that’s definitely what intrigues me about it — I don’t always want to spend $200 or $300 on a nice party dress just to “try” something new or indulge in a current trend. Thanks so much for the feedback!

Hoping I can grow more into running too. I have tried it so many times throughout life and not been able to stick with it. But I appreciate it a little more now being back in SF and the weather pretty much always being conducive to it (and I find the city prettier too!).

I love these little check ins! I can “feel” that your spirits are much brighter on that side of the US. Cheers to that! xo

I’ve had good and bad experiences with RTR. I think the simpler the item (no embellishments, overlays, etc), the better shape it will be in when you get it. And have some backup choices, just in case your first choice doesn’t work out.

Thanks, Sam! Have you ever paid the extra fee to get a second option? Do you think that’s worth it?

I love Rent the Runway! I actually rented my engagement photo dress there. Their customer service is very good and the dress came perfectly. They also give you a $25 discount on your first rental. I say give it a shot!

I used RTR for Kansas City Fashion Week a few years back and it was a great experience! I’m pondering using them for my birthday this year (depending what I end up doing). I’m all about saving money where I can ;) I ate all the food and drank all the drinks over the long weekend and my body is suffering. Getting back into the swing of things fitness related on Tuesday was rough!

First and foremost – Lucy looks SO. HAPPY. A California girl for sure.

Secondly – the art for this post is ON FLEEK. (Am I using this term right?)

Lastly – I love RTR. I know others have had issues, but I’ve had an awesome experience every time. For something like a formal jumpsuit, it’s the perfect avenue. Take advantage of the discounted second look and always request the second size. I would see if the items you love happen to be at Nordstrom and try it on so you make sure it looks perfect before renting.

    MISS YOU!

I almost went with a Rent the Runway dress for a recent rehearsal dinner in NYC but ended up going with this number from Club Monaco, who’s jumpsuit game is ON POINT this season: http://www.clubmonaco.com/product/index.jsp?productId=35276566

And I got SO many compliments on it, and it was super comfy!
