SHOWER POWER: Here in California, the historic (and potentially catastrophic) drought is a current hot topic. Water rationing is set to go into effect soon, but one obvious way to reduce usage now is through fewer showers. I will admit very openly that I don’t typically shower everyday, so I found this article supporting my every other day shower sched to be pretty heartening. Non-daily showerers, unite!
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO LIVE WITHOUT YOU?: Do you watch Last Week Tonight? I love that show. Last week, they did a story about the importance of the IRS (I know, gasp!). I experienced IRS furloughs first hand this last year, so I loved their humorous take on why we should support the IRS, maybe just a little bit, even if you really, really don’t want to (and: Michael Bolton!).
VEGAN YUM YUMS: I’m super proud of my friend Grace for coming up with this delicious recipe for cauliflower bisque with truffle oil. This looks fantastic!
PASTRY YUM YUMS: Also, Jacquelyn’s take on these watercolor cookies are just stunning. These are a great project to take on for a Mother’s Day brunch or gift.
FOGO IS THE NEW FOMO: Thank goodness. An interesting essay on why FOMO is less of an issue when browsing social media these days.
ALLLL THE RESOURCES: Whether you blog, run a business, or grind it out at a 9-5, you should definitely check out this list of productivity, marketing, and business resources. I found this site through this post on Medium, and discovered SO many cool programs and apps because of it. Ironic: the time suck that is spending time going through all the resources!
LIFE IS MESSY: Make garlic knots. As always, Clara’s honest, honest personal essay paired with a fabulous recipe is one of my favorite posts this week. As to her thoughts on control, anxiety and vulnerability — I couldn’t have said it better myself.
HIGH STREET SALE!: I’ve mentioned High Street Market here many times before as one of my favorite resources for unique and vintage decor items. The shop just launched a new site design, and in celebration, you can take 20% off your order with the code NEWLOOK through 4/20. I scooped up this vintage toast rack I’ve been eyeing for quite a while; I’m planning to use it to corral mail on our entry table.
FEAST: And y’all, if you watch or look at one thing this weekend, make it this short film. Named Feast, it won the Oscar this past year for best short film, and I can’t believe I didn’t see it until this week. Like, cutest thing ever! You may also tear up. This is sure to put a smile on your face, especially if you have or love dogs.
Happy weekend, everyone!
