Redecoration Reveries

Out with the old and in with the new...or at least, I wish!

redecorating ideas

Here’s a fun piece of news to kick off the new year: it’s 99% likely that we’ll be moving. When and where, we’re not entirely sure yet, but our current lease will end in July, so it’ll be happening by or before then, for sure. Part of me dreads the thought of doing another move, but at this point, with so many moves in the last 4 years, I feel like I’ve got our systems down pat! Either way, it’s just like I said last week: adventure most definitely ahead.

Even when I’m deep into a lease (and undoubtedly in the future, a mortgage), one thing that never changes is my constant urge to find the perfect treasures for my home. I like to decorate in waves, and increasingly with as many unique, one-of-a-kind pieces as I can (which means it always takes a little longer to discover the perfect things!). I think both the new year and wondering about where the next 12 months will take us has me itching to switch things up in the apartment. Which, of course, is entirely impractical, since you never know if your next space would even have room for new things! Major home decor purchases are most definitely on hold around here. So instead, I’ll daydream — call it a slightly healthier way to pretend I have control over the future. Here, a selection of lots of pieces I’ve been eyeing and wish I could magically have delivered to our apartment, like, today.

I’m digging the mix of blues and neutrals, natural materials, hints of brass, and industrial elements. For me it feels lived in, welcoming, warm, and a little collected.

In other news, I’m also kind of excited for this first full week of 2015. I’m feeling ready to tackle work, start some fun new projects, and get back in the saddle. You too?

The sconce is absolutely awesome, I want it right now! Two in fact, for the master bedroom :-)

And the brass planter! If only I could keep plants alive, I might have an excuse to buy new planters.

    Happy New Year!

Gah, I don’t know how you do it! You are such a rockstar – your positive attitude is infectious. But being able to decorate a new place isn’t so bad either, I have to admit!

Believe me, it’s been trying at times…but I’m just trying to focus on moving forward! :) And redecorating…heh.

Yea for moving! I officially convinced myself that I will also be moving when my lease is up in May. I need more space… now I just need to decide if I will be staying in NYC. A large part of me wants to pick up and move somewhere different… but then again, I am just getting adjusted to NYC living. We shall see. :)

Does this mean a move back to San Francisco (wishful thinking)?
