The Month Ahead // October

Yes, it's definitely autumn.

Oh October, have I been looking forward to seeing you! This month all but guarantees cooler, autumnal temps here in New York (for me, there’s nothing better than layering), and I have a couple fun weekend trips on the docket, too — the kind that have required some advance planning, which makes you look forward to them that much more!

Mid-month, I’ll be making the trek across the country to reunite with some college and culinary school girlfriends for a little ladies weekend away in Palm Springs (road trip out of LA included). This is a bit of a bachelorette reunion from a couple years ago, but more than anything, I’m looking forward to outdoor yoga, catching up with good people, and wine (lots of wine). Then, late this month, three other couples plus Joe and I are heading back upstate to the Hudson River Valley, to stay at that same house we stayed at over my 30th birthday weekend. This area was gorgeous in the dead of summer, but I really can’t wait to see what the woods look like in autumn. We’ll be building plenty of cozy fires, eating too many s’mores, and wine (lots of wine).

That’s what I’m looking forward to this month…what’s on your agenda? Any ridiculously awesome Halloween costumes to share?

ABOUT THE MONTH AHEAD:

Every month I take a picture in Central Park at approximately the same location. Follow along to see how the seasons change, and life along with it!

At the end of the year, you should collage together all your photos from the same spot, or line them up next to each other—would love to see how it changes throughout the months side by side! Your weekend upstate sounds magnificent; some friends and I were going to do the same, but since the temps are holding decent we’re heading to LI and having a beach bonfire instead this coming weekend :)

A couple of things I love about his post: it’s national pizza month (I had no idea) and your mention of wine (lots of wine) when talking about both of your upcoming trips. I love this series!

These month ahead photos are my favorite. We have an area in the neighborhood behind our apartment that is so fun to watch change from season to season!

This month, I’m looking forward to celebrating my best friend’s birthday. She lives far away from me so I rarely see her! So glad she’ll be returning to our hometown to visit me in a few weeks :)

I’m going camping with a bunch of family and friends this weekend, and the weekend after I’m getting my hair dyed (for the first time!), going to an Arabian Nights themed dance, and my aunt and uncle are visiting from out of town. I’m also in the process of redoing my room, so I’m getting paint going this month! It’s gonna be busy, but super fun :)
I love these posts, especially seeing the same spot progress over time- I think that’s such a cool photography idea. Thanks for sharing!
