The Month Ahead // July

the month ahead - july

July. We’re officially deep into summer. I’m definitely a broken record over here, but for reals, where is this year going? And crazy talk time: this month is the last in my 20s. That’s insane to me. There is so much to look forward to this month, from friends’ birthday parties, to random theme parties, to the simple pleasures of summer (like cold watermelon, fresh corn, and hopefully getting to the beach one of these days). I have to be honest too — on a more somber note, July is often a bit of a tough month for me, just because it’s the anniversary of my dad’s passing. This year will be 20 years since he’s been gone — forget where 2014 is going, where did the last 20 years go? I often find myself in a bit of reflection mode during July, and this year will surely be no different.

Contemplation of the passage of time aside, I’m excited to tackle the 7th month of this year. A bunch of interesting, challenging projects are starting, one big one (for myself!) finishing up, and even though the weather is getting unpleasantly hot (for me at least), there really is nothing like enjoying a warm summer night. I’m relishing it.

What do you have planned this month?

Quick weekend trip to NYC and studying for the second step of my licensing exam this month – good times. ;) Don’t forget to appreciate the unpleasant heat after the winter we just had! Happy birthday to Lucy, and happy last month of your 20s – you’re on to bigger and better things!

Sorry to hear that July brings sad memories. Maybe you can start a new tradition in July every year that makes you happy?

I love the photo/graphic. And hey, hey! Welcome to your 30s! Best years of your life yet to come! At least that’s what I tell myself.

Check out this info graphic about famous people who achieved awesomeness in their 30s and beyond. Totally made me feel good about turning 30. :o)

I’m always happy when July rolls around because to me, this is when summer is truly upon us! We’ll be heading to my family’s beach cottage near the end of the month, which is always a blast.
I hope you can make the best of this month, despite sad memories.
    xo!

August has the same feelings for me. I have so many fond memories, but it’s also the month my Oma left us. It’s always tinged with a little sadness every year it rolls around. Nevertheless your month sounds like it will be lovely. Hope your week is going great!

July is such a funny month – smack dab in the middle of “summer” it can sometimes feel like the only true month with pure relaxation and no transition. Just iced tea, sunlight, and lazy days… at least for the first few years until you realize jobs are year-round! ;)

July was also the last month of my 20s a few years ago ;) I celebrated all month, especially up until that last week (last Sunday in my 20s, last Monday, etc). Hope you have as much fun with it!

July is an odd month for me as well. My dad also passed away in July, 20 years ago, you’re right – where does the time go? In addition…since I’m a teacher, it seems that after July 4th I start thinking about school, lesson plans, & gearing up for the new year. Summer goes so fast! I hope you get a chance to enjoy those sunny days and warm nights.
