You ever have those movies that you bookmark to watch, and then for one reason or another, never find yourself in the mood to dive in? That was Nebraska for me. I had heard amazing things about it — that it was hilarious, smart, moving, surprising — but despite that, had never gotten around to watching it. On the plane back from France, I finally had my chance (and little choice, movie selection wise). I’m SO glad I finally watched. It was all the amazing things I’d heard about it, and more. I laughed out loud many times, and had a big smile on my face when it ended. Give this one some time to develop…I promise you’ll be very charmed by it!
LOVE
I read Beautiful Ruins while on vacation, after picking it up on a whim at the airport in Newark. Oh my, I still can’t get it out of my head. It’s one of those novels you just don’t want to end as you’re finishing it — the characters, the stories, the places are all so perfectly described. The book opens on the coast of Cinque Terre and introduces a grand cast of characters whose stories you follow over the next 50 years. The last few pages of the book are some of the best writing I’ve read in a long, long time. I loved this one so much, I insisted it be our next book club read (in case you’re wondering, our last was The Circle, and was a great one to discuss in this age of digital and social media).

I spotted this bag last week and immediately bookmarked it as a pick for fall. Two great shapes in one pretty green tote? Count me sold! It’s barely summer and I’m already dreaming about what I’d pair this with come autumn…
Hope everyone had a fab weekend! Happy Monday!

I’ve been seeing that book around—just picked up four new reads last week and it was almost a fifth! Also, loved Nebraska….but also because I am a Midwesterner at heart :)
I might be the only person in the world who didn’t care for “Nebraska.” Meh.
On the other hand, I LOVED “Beautiful Ruins.” It was a very rich, very well-written book.
I didn’t know the book, and I’ll add it to my list ! the Cinque terres is an adorable place to visit !!
