Okay, so after reading last week’s post on traveling, you might want to punch me in the face a little. We do have a mini-getaway planned for later this week — nothing on the epic two week international travel scale, but perhaps just as needed. In honor of Joe’s birthday, Valentine’s Day, AND the long weekend (do you have it off?) we’re heading back to California to meet up with friends in Napa for a relaxing weekend of wining, dining, and being in a place where it’s not snowing. I’m so, so excited!
For this trip, we’re staying in our favorite inn down in Yountville, which is in the lower part of Napa Valley, just so we can be closer to some of the activities we have planned. However, I wanted to share a resort that I’ve been dying to stay at and is definitely on my list for future getaways — Calistoga Ranch. Small and intimate, this property is on a huge piece of land, with private little lodges that are all tucked up into the trees. To me, the rooms look and feel like modern, organic, grown up tree houses (check out that one photo above where the huge oak tree is growing up through your private deck — hot tub included)!
Aren’t the grounds just dreamy? I love how the design of the ranch is so well integrated into the trees and hills. I can only imagine how wonderful it would feel to take a shower outdoors here in the spring and summer months (um, yes please)! Here are a few more shots:
What do you think? Are your bags packed? I know a couple people who have spent time at the Calistoga Ranch spa…and all reports have been that it is even better than the pictures!

it looks warm! im in. xo jillian – cornflake dreams
My best friend got married at Calistoga. It is idilic. The Solage (it’s sister hotel) is amazing too. The spa there is beautiful and incredibly relaxing.
Beautiful! Where are you staying in Yountville? I love Yountville!
Enjoy-Michelle
Vintage Inn — we love Yountville too, it’s our favorite.
Check Masion Fluerie in Yountville if you have not seen it before! One of my favs!
Yes, all the Four Sisters Inns are great! The Lavender Inn in Yountville is nice as well. We like the Vintage Inn bc we have some history there, and their daily breakfast is to die for.
I will try it next time. Txs
This place looks amazing! It’s officially on my bucket list of places! I’m visiting Napa for the first time the first weekend of March and we’re staying in Calistoga (but not here!). Any tips on what to pack? I’m so clueless!
I think I am going to do a packing list post later this week — stay tuned!
Gorgeous! Have fun this weekend! As someone who’s never been to Napa…are there a lot of activities for people who don’t drink?
Yes, definitely. There is great hiking, biking, golf, spas, and a fantastic culinary scene. You can also do things like horseback ride and go in hot air balloons, if you are so inclined. And, even if you don’t drink, visiting wineries can still be a great sensory experience, since you can learn about how wine is made, the history of winemaking in the area, and smell the wines to at least see how various techniques affect the aroma. I have family members who have enjoyed learning about the science of winemaking, even though they didn’t drink!
Very cool! I never thought of wineries in that way – will definitely have to try it out sometime. My husband is a big foodie (and I’m becoming one, thanks to him) so that sounds like an absolutely perfect vacation for us!
My friend that lives in San Francisco just recently stayed here with her husband. Her pictures were just amazing! The staff even left a jar of puppy treats in their room for their dog they brought with them. This place is definitely on my list! :)
This place looks wonderful!! I want to go!
How gorgeous?! Totally want to jet plane out there right now – so over the negative degree weather and snow! : (

Wonderful and Marvelous
We just planned a trip to Napa in mid-March and are staying in Yountville as well! We planned it around lunch reservations at French Laundry! We are staying at the Napa Valley Lodge–wish it was the kind of trip where we could splurge for a long weekend at Calistoga or their sister hotel Auberge du Soleil! So luxurious!!!
I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by NVL…though it’s not Auberge level, it’s still very charming and nice! Plus, you can’t beat the walking distance to everything in Y-ville.
Wow this looks amazing! I so need a getaway right now. I’m very jealous of yours this week!
Now I want to go there
So dreamy!!! Will definitely be looking into this place :) Thanks!
LOVE the title Miss Liz Lemon! ;)
