You’ve probably figured out from my ramblings on ginger jars, trips to flea markets, and antique stores that I really, really love finding vintage things for the home. For one thing, it’s more likely that the decor objects you discover will be unique to you (always an uphill battle in the time of blogs and Pinterest!). And for me, the thrill of the hunt — and the stories I have afterwards — are the best part!
As fun as it is to hunt in person, there are so many great resources to look for treasures online, and by far, Hunters Alley has become a new favorite. Have you guys heard about this site yet? Hunters Alley is backed by the geniuses behind One Kings Lane, but instead of offering a mix of new and vintage, Hunters Alley offers all vintage, pre-owned, and handcrafted decor items (oh yeah, and jewelry too!). What I particularly like about it is that while any individual or professional vendor can sell items on the site, Hunters Alley vets and edits the listings, so unlike a few other online marketplaces, the items for sale there are things you would actually want!
I’ve spent some time browsing around the site, and was really excited by the wide mix of pieces and prices. For example, you can easily find inexpensive, one-of-a-kind brass knick knacks to display on coffee table or credenza (love this big brass key, this GORGEOUS bowl, and this candle snuffer!), or scoop up larger furnishings, like this amazing zigzag table, these faux bamboo mirrors, or a rare mid-century wingback chair. Fun feature: the site has also built in a social component too! You can “like” and leave notes on listings you love, and follow particular sellers who are listing items that really resonate with your own tastes (right now I’m digging this shop for pillows, and these three shops for decorative objects). Pretty cool, no?
I’ve had really good luck with using keywords in their search box — I tried typing in “brass”, “gold”, “ginger” and “midcentury” and immediately had to hide my wallet. Above are just a few of the things I found (and loved) from Hunters Alley. Hop on over and let me know if you find a treasure that you love in the comments below! And stay tuned…I’ll be sharing a few of my own Hunters Alley finds in my home in a few weeks!
