Closing Time

year in review part 1

I can’t believe it’s actually here — the last day of 2013. Not to be overly negative as we head into the new year, but OH MY GOD GOOD RIDDANCE. This year will go down as one of the hardest of my adult life, that’s for damn sure. But, now that we’re through the fog and the proverbial skies are clearing, it’s also amazing to look back on everything that’s happened and how much stronger it’s made me. My marriage, my work, my friendships, and my sanity were all certainly tested over the last twelve months, but right now, it feels like everything is starting to come up roses! I hope to take a lot of that positive energy into the new year. 2014 already has a lot going for it: trips to see friends and family, long overdue vacations, and finally finishing our house decorating. Plus, I’ll turn 30 this year! In the same way that I’m excited to end 2013, I feel similarly about my 20s. Here’s to getting older and knowing what works for you!

So, 2013 is definitely a year that can be divided into B.N.Y. and A.N.Y. — Before New York and After New York. Above is the before…below is the after (plus captions to various memories from the year!)

year in review part 2

.01: We spent last New Year’s Eve at Ma(i)sonry in Yountville, one of my favorite places ever. Lucy is a fan too! // .02: Gorgeous sunset around the corner from our old apartment. A strange thing I miss about SF: the rose gold color of the light in the evening. It’s irreplaceable. // .03. Evolved. And tried to get more vulnerable along the way. // .04: Helped Jillian with her first ever lookbook shoot for Sweet & Spark (and made new friends along the way). // .05: Hung out with Gabrielle when she came to visit SF. // .06: Shot a commercial for Wendy’s! // .07: Finally succumbed to my obsession with oh-so-cool Parisian brand Sézane. This bucket bag became my go to piece of the spring and summer. // .08: Took a much needed 10 day vacation in Napa, pre-move. Confirmed suspicion that we will one day retire there. // .09: Entertained friends in Napa with delish food and pretty table settings. Never wanted to leave. // .10: Moved to New York. // .11: Visited the Met for about the billionth time. I love that place! // .12: Ran around in these shoes pretty much all summer; plan to do so again in 2014. // .13: Shot very official photos with Meg for The B Bar. // .14: After a 6 week delay, moved into our apartment! // .15: Planted a garden on our patio. Can’t wait to re-plant it this coming spring! // .16: Took a quick biz trip to Chicago. // .17: Successfully gold leafed a thrift store mirror! // .18: Bought a Chesterfield. Felt so handy when we installed sconces. // .19: Roasted the most delicious Turducken…it was worth the spare tire I had for the next week! // .20: Saw my first snow in 15 years!!
