Leah Singh Pillows | The Power of Glamour (gifted) | On Perfume Making | Embellished Gloves | Embellished Hat

FOR HOME: I mean really, what’s not to love? Last week I was introduced to designer Leah Singh, who makes a beautiful collection of jewelry and most recently, pillows (with lots more designs coming soon!). As a fan of clean lines that also aren’t boring, I love her mix of eclectic colors with modern, geometric shapes. Buy in multiples if you wish, but if you only select one, fear not: each pillow makes a statement on its own!

FOR HEAD: Recently, I was sent a copy of The Power of Glamour, and have had a good time looking through it. Contrary to what one might assume by its cover, the book is actually not a series of glamorous photos, but an in depth look at what glamour really is and how we define it. It’s pretty interesting to read about! Secondly, I recently saw the new book Frédéric Malle: On Perfume Making in Nordstrom’s pop-up French shop and instantly added it to my new gift idea list for the holidays. I think learning about the inspiration and artistry behind perfume making is so fascinating!

FOR HEAT: Last weekend, we swung by Bloomingdale’s to stock up on cold weather gear. I think in nearly 30 years I can count the number of times I have seen snow on both hands (maybe even only one); suffice’s to say that I’m in dire need of cold weather accessories. But I approached the task with a sense of wonder and enthusiasm. I had no idea half of these accessories even existed (um, YES I need a metallic wool headband!), and had a great time selecting a new pair of gloves and some earmuffs (which I promptly wore to the park on Sunday and people looked at me like I was crazy). I still need to find a pair of lined leather gloves for when the weather really turns cold, and love the idea of a pair with a little embellishment, like these. Musings from an East Coast-winter virgin? Probably, but indulge me, ok?

If you’re interested in books about perfume and scent, you should definitely try Season to Taste, by Molly Birnbaum. It’s a memoir of a young chef who loses her sense of smell in an accident, and the huge and somewhat unexpected impact it has on all areas of her life. As someone who comes from a culinary background, I think you would really enjoy it!

brace yourself girl for the winter! I always buy cute gloves every year and then I never end up actually wearing them because they don’t do anything but well you know look cute. I wear the biggest ugliest but warmest gloves. My fashion sense completely goes out the window once winter shows itself.

I hope you don’t think its cold out now! Nothing I can say will brace you for February. The gloves are cute but I usually laugh at my fashion items when its pouring sideways sleet.

This post has me missing home! I made the opposite switch, 10 years ago, from Idaho to sunny San Diego and miss all the fun winter accessories and activities. Not to mention the colder weather wardrobe and outfits!

San Diego is great but a Starbucks red cup in December with Christmas music playing while it’s a sunny 70 degrees outside still just feels a little off. lol

Enjoy your first winter in New York! Such great memories in the making. xo

I love the idea of adding embellishments to cold weather gear. If only it would get cold in Dallas. Sigh…. xo
