Last year, when burgundy was such a huge trend for fall, I was quick to invest in all things wine colored: nail polish, shoes, cords, sweaters, you name it. Secretly, in the back of my mind, I thought to myself, “I REALLY hope this isn’t a one season trend. A) Because I really love this color, and B) Because I now have a lot of burgundy colored things.” Luckily for me — and for any of you who also love this color for fall — it’s back in a big way this season!
Target’s joined in on the trend and has tons of burgundy pieces for fall, with shades that range from bright oxblood to a deep, purply claret color. The great thing about this shade of red is that it can read as a richer neutral (I often swap out a pair of pants like this for jeans, and am always amazed to discover how they’ll give tired blouses in my wardrobe a whole new lease on life), or you can wear it as a bolder statement, with a dress or blazer like this or this. I especially love this simple, modern dress with faux leather sleeves. It’s so basic, but still interesting, and the possibilities for accessorizing are endless. Forget just wearing it to work — I could see myself wearing this with flats and a denim jacket to run errands on the weekend, or even with tall, heeled boots for a Friday night date.
Do you love wearing this color for fall? What’s your favorite way to wear it? And out of sheer curiosity, what do you call it — burgundy, wine, oxblood…all of the above?
