This week I…

+ got my first J.Crew catalog at our new apartment. It’s officially home!

+ had a great meeting with Derek and Jan, the two ‘sons’ from Lo & Sons. Be advised: 1) really cool new products ahead for spring, and 2) free Lo & Sons goodies ahead here on the blog, next month! Stay tuned…

+ definitely need a new mousepad and I loved this DIY gold leaf one (though when I’ll find the time to do it…questionable). We ordered these desks from BluDot for our office, and while Joe and I both really love them, the only downside is you can’t use a wireless mouse on them because of the finish!

+ thought this tutorial Jacquelyn put together on how she edits her photos in Photoshop was fantastic and so useful. Definitely one to bookmark!

+ decided I need a vacation, stat. Unfortunately, that probably won’t happen any time soon, but if a getaway is in your horizon, I’d definitely reference Lisa’s tips for how to prepare your blog for a vacation too!

+ am hanging these curtains later today in our bedroom (with the mister’s help, of course). Our bedroom windows look out over the loveliest, tallest old tree, but I won’t lie, it’ll be nice to have the room a bit slightly darker and sleep in a little longer this weekend! I am anticipating that Joe will question where I want to hang the curtains, so I’m preparing this post to show him should the need arise.

Next week is another busy one, made more so since I’ll be taking Thursday off — it’s my birthday (I guess maybe I do get a mini vacation)! I need to spend a minute planning something special for myself, and the only reason I’m telling you is because I’m historically terrible at doing this, especially on my birthday. You can keep me accountable. What do you think? A massage? Spa mani/pedi? Watching my favorite old movies on the couch, followed by a nap? Maybe all of the above…

Happy weekend, sweet friends!

    Thanks for sharing my post!

I had the same problem when I bought my desk — and I’ve just been using a random notepad since (embarrassing since I got my desk in March, ooops!). Definitely pinning that DIY for future reference!

I met Derek & Jan at a trunks show last year, they’re super sweet! I just got my first Lo & Sons bag a few weeks ago, too, in sky blue :) can’t wait to see your post with them! I also loved Lisa’s tips on prepping for vacation, I had to share it earlier this week-I wish she’d written it before I went on vacation in June!

So great that you’re finally settling into your new place! I have the same West Elm curtains and think they are great for the price point. I was able to find very similar rods to the oversize West Elm ones at BB&B for almost half the price. http://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/product.asp?sku=125716&

Have fun planning your birthday ‘me time’!

I referenced that EXACT post when my mister was like “um that will look weird” upon instructing him where to drill the holes for our curtain rod.

Hope to see pics of your curtains – and the new pad – soon! Glad you’re getting settled.

I vote for the spa! I had no idea what I wanted to do for my birthday a few weeks ago, so I booked a half day of spa treatments. It was great! I got a body scrub, facial, and the best massage EVER.

Oh, I love planning the perfect day on your birthday… you know why? Cause you can choose to do WHATEVER you want and you don’t have to explain why. I sometimes think of the little girl that goes grocery shopping with her mother in her tutu, why? Because she wanted to. That’s your day to do errands in a tutu, or whatever makes you smile.

A lasting smile, it better help take you through the next year of adventures.

Another amazing tip I got… buy yourself a birthday outfit. My friend always buys herself a new outfit, head to toe, for her birthday because she wants to feel amazing that day. Do it. It works :)
