On Monday something happened to me that hasn’t occurred in probably 10+ years. I was so overheated, I sweat through my shirt. It was disgusting. You guys weren’t kidding about New York humidity. I haven’t felt temps or humidity like this since living in Texas! And it’s a memory I’d just as soon forget again.
Yesterday, though the temps were a little lower, the humidity was even higher (or maybe the appropriate adjective is heavier), and all I wanted to do was wear as little as possible for my lunch date with Hitha. But it’s New York, and she had suggested Bryant Park Grill, where one cannot show up in a bikini, tunic and flip flops during the lunch hour, so I opted for this super lightweight dress and easy accessories…
It’s funny, I bought this dress a few years ago to attend a wedding in (where else?) Texas, and I don’t think I’ve worn it since. There just hadn’t been an occasion for a dress this light and summery in SF.
Something tells me it’ll get way more use in New York. And let the record also show that this dress has pockets. Sold!
After we ate lunch (and yes, we ordered dessert), Hitha snapped these pics of me. I’m going to test out this whole outfit photo thing, at least every now and again, awkward as I am taking the photos and as poufy as my hair was in yesterday’s humidity. It’s kinda fun though — and it all but guarantees that I don’t meet friends in yoga pants. Or a bikini, for that matter.

LOVE your dress – that print is fantastic and the turquoise necklace was the perfect accent! It was so muggy yesterday, wasn’t it – ugh!
New York suits you already! Good choice for lunch…I have a soft spot for Bryant Park Grill. It’s where I met my husband!
Love the outfit post, you should do them more often :)

Cute dress! Hope you’re enjoying New York and feeling a little less stressed!
Such a cute outfit! If the humidity in New York is bad, let me just warn you…NEVER COME TO THE SOUTH! Goodness, you can cut it with a knife in south Georgia here! :)
I grew up in Texas, so I get it. :) It’s awful!
This is perfect for a lunch date! Love the dress!

I had such a fun afternoon! More lunch dates and outfit shots, please :)
Just love the print on that dress — and your hair looks just lovely even with all the humidity talk — my hair has been so not happy with me and the soupy weather lately!
Love it! You don’t look awkward at all. The humidity has been totally gross in NYC, but hopefully the few days of rain we’re getting will wash it all away :)
Ha, thanks! Maybe I just have to get over FEELING awkward…mostly when you are having your photo taken and trying to look natural and all these strangers are walking by! :)
You already look like a true New Yorker!
That dress is so pretty, I love the colors!

It’s the Pashli satchel from 3.1 Phillip Lim!
Love the dress! And welcome to East Coast humidity- my straight hair was a frizzy mess this week in DC! Sadly, it will only get worse :)
as humid and hott as texas? i’d have to see it (or feel it in this case) to believe it ;)

Yes, definitely!!!!
Gosh I can’t believe it’s so hot already in NYC. I feel your pain! At least you look really cute. I sweat off my makeup in 2.3 seconds! Love the print on that dress.
Love that pattern Victoria! :) Yeah I struggle so much in the humidity too…I sort of just wilt!
This humidity has been ridiculous! I keep hearing we’re getting rain & I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we do so it will cool down!
I need to see you now that you’re a New Yorker! Lunch or dinner date? Stay cool in this horrid heat!
Love that humidity! It does take some getting used to.
LOVE the outfit post. And it must be too long that I’ve caught up with the blogs, but congrats on your move to NY!! Would love to meet you in the city one day!! Hope the temps cool down for you a bit!
This is so close to my office! I take pictures there somewhat often, love the cute backdrop :) You also look so great, you have such a pretty smile-don’t be afraid to take pictures! It is a little weird at first, but you get used to it. And it’s NYC, so it’s not the strangest thing people will see all day ;)

Yesterday I saw a guy taking a shower in the street during the rain. It’s good that didn’t bother me, right?
Oh shut up, your hair is adorable:) I love the waves! And great dress. It was so humid today again too. Summers in NYC are pretty disgusting.
