A Day in the Life: Casual Weekend

a day in the life

Saturday was such a perfect spring day in the city. Not cold enough to really need a jacket (especially in the sun), not a cloud in the sky — weather like that just makes everyone feel good. The general sentiment amongst city dwellers was that we had not a care in the world, and the smiles we saw on faces all day proved it.

Maybe one person had a slight care. Joe managed to get a pinched nerve in his neck on Friday, and had already had one very painful chiropractic appointment. On Saturday, we went in for round two. So while he had his bones cracked, I took Lucy out for a little walk near the back doctor’s office…

san francisco

Like I said — not a cloud in the sky. I let Luce wander around Washington Square Park while I looked up and admired the Transamerica building. Totally one of those, “Huh. I live in San Francisco” moments.

I can’t with this one. I have yet to get on the Vine bandwagon, but if I did, pretty sure my first one would be a vid of Lucy’s butt wagging from side to side as she waddles along. It’s the cutest thing ever.

Not pictured: how after Joe’s chiropractor appointment, we decided that the best medication for him was probably wine, and promptly drove over the hill to Rose’s Cafe to get a carafe of — well, rosé, appropriately. Mind you this was before we ate lunch. So needless to say, on the subsequent walk around the neighborhood, I saw this purple garage door and with a veil of wine-induced confidence, demanded Joe take an outfit shot. Another rare outfit pic makes its appearance!

Right when we made it back to the car, I realized we had parked outside of a dog bakery. Yes, you read that correctly: a bakery just for dogs. I mean, obviously we went in. Lucy’s favorite were the cheddar biscuits, in case you were wondering — they were these star shaped cookies that reminded me of Cheez-Its. I smelled them and everything.

Finally realizing we should probably eat something, we stopped in at Evolution on Fillmore. Nothing to make you feel less guilty about a pre-lunch carafe of wine than getting wraps made with gigantic collard leaves, and glasses of fresh organic carrot and apple juice! On the way out, I couldn’t resist snapping a picture of this patio chair. I thought the design was really cool!

And also not pictured, but just to keep it real: later in the day we sat around in our pajamas watching Breaking Bad and doing laundry. Just so you know.

LOVE this outfit – totally something you’d find me in on the weekend! I think I might “need” those flats.

Also, can completely relate to the pinched nerve situation and am going through pretty intensive treatment with a chiro right now too…it’s no fun! Hope he feels better soon :)

What a wonderful day in San Francisco. I haven’t been there in far too long but think having a carafe of wine before lunch on a gorgeous Saturday sounds like a fab idea! You look great, effortlessly chic! Thanks for sharing! Oh and I love knowing you spent the latter part of the day watching Breaking Bad, that show is awesome.

Definitely just pinned this outfit. I own neither white pants nor chambray, but all of a sudden I am convinced they need to be my Spring uniform.

I love that your chambray top is from j.crew kids. I find myself feeling “guilty” for even looking at kid clothes sometimes, but you know, their largest size is normally about the same as a small adult (and half the price!) ;)

Sounds like my kinda day! Thanks for keeping it real. I love getting outside and exploring my city, but I’m equally likely to hit the couch later on. Have you seen Sons of Anarchy? If not, you should watch that next :)
