Palette Play: Dusty Desert Hues

I came across this photo of Carla Fendi’s Rome apartment and stared at it for a long, long time. The colors in the rug aren’t something I would probably ever pick out on my own, but in this room, paired with lots of neutrals (and that amazing white double sided couch), it felt very serene to me. But cheerful too. I’m digging the warm, friendly vibe of the space.

The rug colors remind me of the palettes so omnipresent in southwestern textiles and artwork; they feel familiar to the kinds of art I often saw in Texas growing up, or during many a road trip through New Mexico and Arizona. It’s a dusty, desert kind of palette, and one that when darkened up just a touch, is actually perfect for fall. I pulled together a couple quick outfits to see how the (slightly darker) color palette might look:

1. Sleeveless Peplum Top | 2. Violet Deco Strand | 3. Beige & Crystal Sunglasses | 4. ‘Femme’ Top 5. Violet Rock Strand | 6. Hunter Green Denim Leggings | 7. Dakota Mini Bag | 8. Faille Skirt (similar here too) | 9. Jacqui flats 10. Platform Pumps

I also can’t stop staring at those suede green platform pumps. Yes, please!
