Weekend in the desert

Welp, I’m sufficiently recovered from my weekend in the desert. Meaning, it’s back to the rat race, away from the heat and relaxation that only Palm Springs can provide. Wah! But, in an effort to re-live the experience, I thought I’d share a little bit about the weekend with you all — specifically our Saturday at The Parker, which is a day I would happily repeat every weekend ad infinitum.

This was a weekend with a fairly low agenda. Friday, we all got in and took a swim, drank some Champagne, then ended up getting sandwiches and snacks from the most random deli ever (shoutout to Larry’s!). We ended the night with wine around the fire pit outside. It didn’t suck.

BUT, as much as we gals all loved hanging out at the house, eating snacks, drinking wine, and watching movies (who wouldn’t?), I think we all agreed that our experience at The Parker was the highlight of the trip.

We planned to spend Saturday at the hotel enjoying their spa. What we didn’t anticipate was that it would be so beautifully decorated, and so perfectly pampering, that we didn’t want to leave! We all agreed that we wanted to come back and stay at The Parker at some point (hate to say it, but it was far, far better than The Viceroy!).

This is the entrance to the hotel’s spa, the Palm Springs Yacht Club, or PSYC for short. If that sounds cheeky and very Jonathan Adler, it is — he was the interior designer for the entire hotel property, and he certainly left his mark on the spa. The place had a fun, preppy, whimsical, nautical vibe, but wasn’t so over the top that you couldn’t relax there. In fact, when you check in, you’re offered a shot of cucumber vodka. How could you NOT unwind?

The spa is made up of lots of dimly lit hallways that evoke the inside of an old transatlantic ship or yacht — lots of navy, white walls, chrome finishes, portholes on some of the doors. Super cute. The real show stopper in the spa area though is the relaxation lounge, which features a pool, two hot tubs, and this stunning indoor tent.

The furnishings in the tent were slightly different than this — upgraded, if you can believe it. The whole thing had this amazing gypsy feel, and the spa had stocked plenty of beautiful art and design books to look at while you hang out with some cucumber water (a far cry from beat up copies of Us Weekly, that’s for sure).

It was awesome.

The rest of the hotel is equally as pretty. There’s the lobby…

And the outdoor patio for the restaurant, and the grounds beyond (I’m still not over the color scheme here. The part of me that loves MCM stroked out).

And then of course the rooms themselves. So fun!

I already want to plan another trip back just to stay here. Us girls were talking about making the PSYC trip an annual thing! Why not, right?

Have any of you stayed at The Parker? Did you love it?
