FOR THE BEACH: umbrella | hat | tote | sparklers | sunscreen
FOR A PICNIC: basket | wine case | backpack | stereo
FOR THE BACKYARD: cocktail recipe | mini grill | grill tools | dress | drink dispenser
I can’t believe it’s already the Fourth of July this week. How did that happen? Pretty soon it’ll be Labor Day…then Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and you know what happens next. Boom, 2013.
Growing up in Texas, our Fourth of July celebrations were always the picnic-y, backyard variety (all of the above included, except for perhaps the iPod dock!). One year I shot off some Roman candles and almost killed a couple kids. My mother was pretty embarrassed. Another I was dumb enough to be standing too close to where the ashes from the fireworks were falling, and got a bunch of them in my shoe. Guess what? It burns. Like, a lot.
But though I completely adore the potluck picnics I remember as a kid (pyrotechnic mishaps included), I’ve always wanted to have a Fourth on the beach, with fireworks and sparklers and the whole deal. Where’s your favorite place to celebrate Independence Day?
This quote could not describe the 4th more perfectly. I have always been a parade/backyard sort of celebration but what you assembled for the beach looks pretty great!
Great options here! I have had my eye on that tote for a while… My favorite place to celebrate is in my parents backyard where lots of music and BBQ are involved. Then I like a nap before fireworks! :) I hope you had a good weekend!
my fav is on the rooftop somewhere watching fireworks!
Love this post – and really want that drink dispenser! Happy (almost!) fourth!!
So funny..I am working on a similar post and was just thinking about my 4ths in Oklahoma (back yard picnic and pool day) vs my 4ths now (beach allll day). This honestly is one of my absolute favorite holidays! I love the patriotism, the time to just be outside, in the sun, with great friends.
And um, I NEED that umbrella!
