I finally got a chance to flip through the March J.Crew catalog (it’s been sitting on our mail pile forever) and these were three of my favorite looks. Notice a pattern? I’m loving the tonal mix between tops and bottoms here. It’s colorblocking, 2.0. Interesting that versus previous seasons, the look is much more minimal. Gone are the 5 layers and maxed out accessories — the styling is back to classic, simple, but still unabashedly colorful. Me likey.
Too bad I’m on a major shopping and spending freeze! I’m tearing out lots of outfits from the catalog and hanging them on my inspiration wall. Hopefully I’ll find a way to recreate them with clothes I already have!

Couple things:
1) Love playing with tone on tone…something easy to re-create with stuff we already own! Yay for that!
2) OMG at your wedding location choice! It’s perfect. And I secretely love that it has both a historical and modern story aspect… I knew exactly which room you were talking about when you mentioned Shawntel coming in! Epic! :-)
It’s going to be gorgeous and intimate…so excited for you!

I like it!! The ink and red looks fantastic! J Crew makes a spending freeze extra painful!
Love how the colors are different enough to be interesting, but keeping in the same color family makes it simple and chic. Especially love the purple!
Need those purple shorts! I love J. Crew for outfit inspiration for this summer.
This is also one of my favorite trends right now! So happy color is everywhere!
I’ll take one of everything please. I especially love the yellow pants and the violet blouse! hope you had a great weekend love!

i’m loving the two tone!! I actually did an outfit post with 2 tones of pink today!!! xoxo
Oooh. I have to admit I’m always afraid to pair the two-tones. I think I’ll get it wrong somehow. Ha. But of course J. Crew makes it look effortless.
So minimal, polished, and beautiful. This sort of styling really lets the tailoring of the pieces shine. I am gaga for the purple look and the pink lip!

LOVE this look!! Such a great way to do color block – feels very fresh. I’m also coveting those scalloped shorts.
Love the pale pink/hot pink combo – so chic!

Colorblocking 2.0! Also known as “easy to get dressed by dressing in one section of my color categorized closet”
I think the contrasting belt pulls the two-tone look together effortlessly! Love it!
They are always knocking my socks off!! The purple and yellow and so gorgeous!!
I’m loving tonal blocking 2.0, especially with the purple hues. I just saw the catalogue as well. My magazines have been very sad lately!
I’m really loving the pink and red combos at the moment. Especially when it’s coral and maroon.
Love the tonal mix, especially the yellow! Such a pretty way to incorporate a new trend and color into an outfit
