***BIG UPDATE ON GIVEAWAYS: Live from The Altitude Summit, I learned today that doing giveaways on your blog is actually rife with legal complications. In that, doing it for free, or having people follow/like you on another platform, may not be legal or may bring about all kinds of issues that you should address with the brand before ever giving anything away on your blog. This is a relatively new issue in the blogosphere, and apparently one that the FTC is starting to monitor and crack down on. I am gathering more information on this and will report back to you all!

So, so helpful and just downright interesting to read all of this info from seasoned bloggers. This whole mini-Alt series is one of the best things I’ve ever seen on a blog, because how else can you get this info? I’d love for this to be a regular feature! But for now I’m just really enjoying it and your layouts make it extra fun to read!
I’ve been lurking here for a while, so I thought I would come out and comment and let you know how amazing this series is…even though I’ve been blogging for over two years, I’m still so curious and feel I have a lot to learn (the photography section you did was VERY helpful!) It’s clear that a lot of thought and time and work went into these beautiful AND informative posts, SO appreciated! thanks!xx
Very interesting and informative! Thanks for sharing! I’ve always wondered how people did giveaways… did they ask or did they get offered, etc. Now I see it can go both ways!
This series is SO helpful! It’s wonderful to learn about how other bloggers approach the giveaways and sponsorship.
I want to echo Jackie– I’m LOVING these posts! Thank you for going to the effort of compiling all this stuff. And it’s pretty, too! :)
these are INVALUABLE pieces of advice. thank you for offering up these tips & tricks of the trade, they will certainly prove to be useful, as up & coming bloggers look to build their brand. thank you ~ xx.

these posts are my bible. i will print them and keep them close to my computer at all times. thank you so much for these!
Great little series with wonderful tips!
this is PHENOMENAL advice and a fab post!!! thanks so much for sharing! xoxo
Great information. This whole week has amped up my motivation to make my blog even better. This has been so helpful!!!!
This is one of the most informative posts of the entire week. I’m still sooo new to blogging, and there are about a million questions that I’ve been trying to find the answers to. This is such a blessing to have you writing these posts, and I second Jackie’s sentiment–I’d love to see this as a series too!
Really good stuff! Printing this entire series out. Launching a new blog can be a little intimidating and it’s reassuring to see that everyone sort of started in the same place. The open feedback about what what worked to make each blog successful is invaluable.
Thanks so much for doing this series. I have recently launched my blog and starting out is a little intimidating. So helpful! Look forward to reading more of your posts.
xoxo,
Jill

I’m like Sue of The Zhush, been blogging for 2 years but still have SO much to learn!!! Thank you for this awesome series, I’ll be bookmarking it for sure. And adding you to my blog roll right now. Keep up the fantastic work Victoria.

I learned so much reading this thank you.
Seriously V, Thank you so much for doing this Mini-Alt series! I can not express to you how much I enjoy reading and learing everyday! Very very helpful!!
I’m hoping to start collaborating more with other blogs, and I will definitely be putting these tips into practice. Thank you so, so much!
Such a great collection of opinions and advice – I love it. Thank you for compiling this, it’s so helpful!
I’m VERY interested in what your follow up will be about giveaways. I personally do them here and there and actually self sponsored two book giveaways as a gift from me to my readers. Is that legal? I was going to host one from a company this week, but now I’m not sure what to do!?
I just devoured your entire mini alt week series, I’m so glad I happened upon it. For a relatively new blogger who had never even heard of Alt Summit until about 2 weeks before this years’ conference went down, this was an incredible round up of information. Thank you so much for taking the time to put it together! I’m pumped to get to work taking my skills and my blog(s) to the next level.
Thanks for posting about this. I know a lot of blogger friends who host giveaways and it’ll be interesting to see how the law evolves around this topic. I do think that collaboration can be really fun, and now that I’m beginning to blog more regularly, I’m excited to do more of that.
Currently I’m going through all of your “Mini Alt Week” posts and learning tons. Us new blogger types really appreciate your time and suggestions.
Wonderful post, so helpful and straight to the point! Seriously I bookmarked your page so I can return anytime for some inspiration!:) Plus I’ve started to follow u on bloglovin so I don’t skip anything!:)
