The brighter days ahead

NOUN. Astronomy.

1. The time at which the sun is at its southernmost point in the sky, appearing at noon at its lowest altitude above the horizon. It occurs about December 22 in the northern hemisphere. Results in the shortest day and longest night of the year.

2. A perfectly good reason to light a Thursday evening fire. Can often be accompanied by spiced apple cider.

Cheer up, chickadees. Starting tomorrow, the days will be longer and brighter.

Until next June of course.

Or if you currently live in the southern hemisphere.

In which case, enjoy your long, gorgeous day of sun!

I seriously squealed when my girlfriend informed me that we are now officially on the upswing for longer days! I love nothing more than walking out my door at 8pm for a stroll in the sunshine. Summer nights are the best.
Now the funny thing…as I type this it is still dark outside and we have a foot of new snow on the ground here in Denver. Summer is still a ways away! Lol!

Love that you put the definition! I think that there is always a big question around what the solstice actually is! Happy winter to you :) xoxoxo brynn

I love that gold lined indoor fire pit…

I think I’m a complete freak as I actually enjoy it getting dark early. My motto: When its dark, I spark!”

What a beautifully designed post. Fun fact: My bf’s dad doesn’t celebrate Christmas… he celebrates the solstice!

It has been such a terrible week at work, knowing that from this point forward the days get longer is just the perfect amount of hope to hang onto :)

Music to my ears. Longer days are my favorite. Spring and Summer are my seasons. Dinners al fresco. Night time walks with no sweater. Looking forward to it already.
