Phew. I don’t know about you guys, but I am soooooo (ooooo) happy it’s Friday. This has been a long week for me, and after working all last weekend, I feel like I was never able to catch up and rest. The only plans I have this weekend are attending a fun couples dance class tomorrow morning (Joe is less thrilled, though he’s being a really good sport about it!), and hanging out at home. Here’s to having a relaxing weekend!
Below are photos from some of my fave posts of the week. Be sure to check these blogs out if you haven’t already.
A couple weeks ago, Anh from 9 to 5 Chic posted some photos of the most amazeballs date night outfit. Her take on the all-black ensemble with a simple, neutral accent is so sexy and simple. J’adore.
Alaina over at Live Creating Yourself has been sharing professional photos of her apartment that she recently commissioned. This shot of her dining room immediately caught my eye, not just for the adorable bird cage, but for what I’m pretty sure is a fantastic IKEA hack. Do I spy an Expedit bookcase with legs attached, doubling as a bar cart/buffet console? I THINK SO! (And if this isn’t an IKEA hack, this is the best idea ever).
Lots of bloggers have been taking some pretty fabulous trips, and with my own (too short) beach vacation just a few weeks away, I’ve been relishing photos from other’s travels. First up is Lauren from Aspiring Kennedy, who ventured up to the Scottish Highlands (she also lives in the UK, and it’s patently unfair that views like this are just a few short hours away):
Then there’s Kelly from Classically Eclectic, who works for someone awesome enough to send her to Istanbul, Turkey on business:
Though not technically a real vacation, when Brittany posted images of fantastic outdoor spaces on her blog Gallery No. Eight, I immediately fell in love with this one:
Doesn’t this look like a sweet place to hang out? A few hours on that suspended day bed with a book, some tea (or maybe wine) and all would be right with the world!
And I can’t forget Kim, author of a new-to-me blog, In a State of Luxe, who’s currently on holiday in Italy. Check out the spread she feasted on yesterday afternoon. Drool.
Speaking of good eats, Julie from Julip MADE shared another delectable looking recipe! Chicken dishes like this are right up my alley:
Kelly from High Street Market wrote up a DIY project that looked so easy, anyone could do it! I love how customizable her little bag labels are, and it’s an idea that could be utilized in a myriad of ways. If you are planning any parties or events that will have a keepsake or goodie bag component, be sure to check this out!
I’m also enjoying Lark + Linen, another recent blog find. This week, Jacquelyn photographed her new succulent planters, which are actually some old ceramic pots she reused for these easy to care for plants. I love how structural they look!
And finally, even if you’re sick of hearing me talk about natural beauty products (and I’m kind of not sorry if you are, because I’m convinced we can all be beautiful and glamorous and modern without having to put chemical, carcinogen filled crap all over our bodies), I would encourage you to read this post. This past week, the FDA added 8 additional substances commonly found in beauty products to its carcinogen list, and I’m sure you’ll be shocked (SHOCKED!) to learn that formaldehyde (yes, the same stuff that preserved dead frogs in 8th grade biology) is now officially on the list. Formaldehyde, a carcinogen? Color me surprised! If you’re interested in learning how to avoid formaldehyde-laden beauty products, read this post. It’s a good one. I’ll also throw out these two links, published today, on the FDA’s new sunscreen regulations. In case you’re wondering, I’m totally using this sunscreen this summer.
And with that, I wish you all bon weekend! Wherever you are, I hope it’s a good one.
Great post!! Thanks for the mention! :) Have a great weekend.
See when it comes to anti aging there are a few things that you can do to make a huge difference in how young you look.. Skin care products which are free of SLS have advantages in that they are more natural and often are organic products and tend to result in healthier skin..
