An Ikat Summer

Ikat is undeniably one of my favorite patterns around (if you could even call it a pattern!). I love the color it can lend to decor or an outfit, and I also appreciate it for that little bit of eclecticism it brings to the party. It’s such a visual jolt. Though, with patterns that can often be quite bold, I understand why some people might not gravitate to it as much.

But if you’ve ever wanted to give ikat a try, there’s no better time than summer. Something about it just screams HOT to me! I am still on the lookout for a new bikini for the season, and am dying to find an bandeau suit with an ikat print. Anyone seen any??  (UPDATE: Thanks to Emily’s suggestion, I’m the proud new owner of a super cute J.Crew ikat bikini. Will report back on how it looks!)

I don’t think that initially (way back when) that I was a big fan of Ikat…especially since I apparently didn’t know how to pronounce it! (c: But it has completely converted me into a fan of epic proportions…we all need a little ikat in our lives…like that freakin’ amazing anthro clutch…oh yeah baby!

Don’t worry, I didn’t know how to pronounce it correctly until recently either….when a fabric store owner corrected me. Kinda embarrassing (I’m such a rookie), but I’m glad he told me!! In case anyone else out there is wondering, it’s ee-cot.
