Atop my dresser are lots of little items that I especially cherish. Chanel perfume, bought at the original store in Paris. A small gold jewelry box I found at the flea market, filled with a collection of vintage and antique jewelry my grandmother recently handed down to me.
And, a rosary given to me when I was probably 7 or 8 years old. From Mexico, the pink beads are made entirely out of crushed and dried rose petals. It’s not sentimental because of its religious value, but more for how it made me feel when I received it. Even after all these years, the rosary gives off a faint, flowery scent that will always remind me of being a little girl, when it was so easy to be blown away by the most simple and beautiful things.
