I’m Loving…

A very motley mix to kick off 2017. But you don't mind, do you?

Hi there and happy 2017! I hope you don’t mind that I took last week to settle back into the work flow. The year is already off to a fast and furious pace in the studio, but I’m kinda digging it. Thought I’d pop in to share some recent loves in my own life, and a couple things I’ve been eyeing.

//

MY CHRISTMAS GIFT TO YOU

Among other things, my grandmother gifted me a few different serving bowls and platters from Crate & Barrel this year. She knew I’d been wanting larger pieces for dinner parties, buffets, that type of thing! Anyway, she got me the small and medium version of the Mallorca serving bowl, and I have to sing their praises. I like entertaining pieces that are super versatile, and these fit the bill — simple white, with a small amount of detail on the edge (that feels interesting, but not over the top, and like it’ll be in style in another 10 years). Both bowls are shallow enough to do double duty as a platter (I used one as a crudité platter, and nested a bowl of hummus in it alongside other veggies), but are deep enough that you can easily pile up pasta, potato salad, or items off a grill (barbecue chicken, corn on the cob, that type of thing). They’ve really amazed me with their versatility, and given that the small is $25 and the medium is $35…well, if you’re in need of some good serving pieces, these are the ticket. Trust.

THIS WEEK IN PINK

A simple, elegant scallop-edge top that doesn’t break the bank.   ·   I love pouches like this that can be used as clutches or as catch-alls for travel.  ·   One of my fave Insta accounts, @FrenchWords, recently launched a shop filled with cute prints and journals. Items sold out fast, but they’re already working on re-stocking!

SHOE CRUSH

Loeffler Randall has been killing it with their accessories lately (this clutch basically requires you plan a tropical vacation, stat). I saw these babouche slides on the LR site the other day and was smitten. Smitten, I tell you! They’re a little trendy, but they’re just so good. PS – please go and read the Nov. 29 review for these on Zappos. I scrolled down yesterday and literally LOLed.

THREE MORE THINGS

one.

Here’s the article Joe sent me on AUrate — he knows I can’t resist a good style startup. I checked out their website after reading, and while fine jewelry = higher prices, man, their pieces are really beautiful. Minimalist, classic, easy to wear day or night. I really liked the Open Pyramid ring, the Black Diamond ring, and (of course) this V-necklace with black diamonds. Check out the AUrate story here.

two.

A couple Fridays ago, some friends of ours asked if we wanted to meet up in Union Square at a bar at the Hilton. “Um, not really?” was our first thought. But they sold us on the concept, and man, I’m glad they did. Launching last fall, the Cityscape Lounge easily has the best views of San Francisco that I’ve ever seen. Yes, better than the views at the DeYoung, or the Top of the Mark, or frankly, even The Fairmont (where we got married). Located in Tower 3 of the maze-like (and kinda overwhelming) Hilton, the lounge is on the 46th floor, and it’s completely worth the Union Square traffic and hubbub. The space features 20-foot glass windows, surrounding the entire lounge. So, you get 360° views of the entire city. It’s pretty incredible! They open at 5, and I recommend arriving on the earlier side (or timing your visit to sunset). The best seats seem to fill up pretty fast.

three.

We’ve had a few launches recently, and a few more set to go live in the next month or two. Last week Lisa and I launched The A List, which I’m super proud of. I’m still working on completing my portfolio update, but I made good progress over the holidays — you can check it out here!

That’s all from here. What’s been going on for you during these first ten days of 2017?

I love the wedges. I’ve seen them 3 times today. They must be popular with bloggers.

The Cityscape lounge is gorgeous! I was in SF in November for work and our conference was at the Union Square Hilton. We had a gala and the opening cocktail reception was in that lounge. It was so fun to get dressed up and relax for a moment (literally, a moment) with a glass of bubbles.

I also love that pink leather pouch.
