Week/End

IT’S GETTING HOT IN HERE: What I thought was a hilarious and totally accurate (as well as instructive!) article about Bikram/hot yoga, and how to leave a class when you just can’t take the heat. Like the author, hot yoga is just…not my thing. I laughed outloud a few times while reading this one!

A QUEEN AND HER PUPS: A fun slideshow containing many, many images of Queen Elizabeth and her beloved corgis throughout the years. Insert Frenchies, and I hope that’s me someday!

C. WONDER’S COMING BACK: Did you hear this news? Brad Goreski at the helm, too. Interesting.

TOTALLY WAITLISTED: …these crazy chic yet simple new flats from M. Gemi. I waited just a few hours too long, and the 37s disappeared right out from under me this past Monday. Loving the mix of patent leather and suede on these beauties! PS — my Felize loafers have been a summer staple!

READ THIS, YOU’RE A GENIUS: 33 websites that will make you smarter. It’s okay if you bookmark this one to explore later!

HER NAME WAS CHRISTINA: An interesting short piece about why most early teenage friendships only last a few years. I think most all of us had a friend in sixth or seventh grade that we drifted apart from.

P.D.A.: Where do you stand? Don’t care? Wish people would just stop? Garance opens the discussion. Browse the comments on this one!

IF YOU MAKE YOUR COMPANY’S BASE SALARY $70K PER YEAR: …it sounds great in theory, but man, can there be some backlash, too. Check out this fantastic piece from the Times on one Seattle CEO’s avant-garde decision, and the good and bad that’s come with it. A biz school case study if ever there was one.

SWIPE RIGHT: I bookmarked this article from Vanity Fair about digital dating and “hookup culture,” to read more closely this weekend. It’s fascinating to me to chat with friends about what the dating scene is like today. Isn’t it crazy to think about how much it has changed in the last 10, even 5 years? Or, according to this piece, in the last 10,000-15,000 years!

Weekend plans in a nutshell: Farmers market-ing. Maybe taking a day trip down to Half Moon Bay again, so we can all enjoy the beach. I really want to carve out some time for a little date night (or afternoon) to see Trainwreck and try out a restaurant we’ve never been to before (this list is where I’m starting). Also, another Barry’s class on Sunday! I’ve been trying to go 2-3 times per week for the last month now, and like everyone says, yeah, it’s pretty addictive. What’s going on for you this weekend? I hope whatever you’re up to, that it’s a good one!

I just finished reading the Vanity Fair article and it left me depressed. Sometimes I wish we could go back to the pre-internet days.

Your links are the best! Although, I started reading that one about tinder and dating culture, and I had to stop, for now. Lol, Tinder is currently the only dating app I am using (I live in Chicago) and I have to filter, filter, filter. The first part of that article made me so happy that I don’t live in NYC and that I am very good at sussing out the type of men who are just looking to rack up 30+ female conquests a year.

Trainwreck was cute! I enjoyed it. :) Hope you like it and have a good weekend.
